New Wage Definitions that could affect take-home salaries
The revised definition of “wages” in the Indian Labour Laws has created ambiguity on what will be the take-home salary, though it is touted to be beneficial for long term benefits such as gratuity and leave encashment. Although the new labour laws, which will kick-start from 1st April are mostly receiving positive feedback from the industry, there are looming questions on new pay structures which will require a larger contribution towards PF and will affect other allowances leading to lower take-home salary. This also means greater liability for companies and more money for employees on leaving the organization.

The demand for CXOs has spiked by 20-25% this year in the technology, IT and IT-enabled sectors and companies are making expansion plans. The demand is for both replacement and fresh hires required to drive sustainable growth in the FMCG, BFSI, e-commerce, fin-tech and GIC with multinational aspirations. Though unemployment will remain high, a majority of people in the labour force will look for new jobs despite and possibly due to the economic uncertainty caused by the pandemic. An Online HR resource site XpertHR of 563 U.S. employers in September 2020 found that roughly one-half of responding employers expect to increase their workforce in 2021and attracting talent will be key to improving operations. Other key challenges that are anticipated include ensuring a safe work environment on site for candidates, hiring a diverse workforce, and dealing with a high volume of applicants
